GOOD NEIGHBOR WEEK   - Wow, Lansing has a heart.  We asked for people to be good neighbors for a week and the response was so heartfelt. In addition to all of the good deeds we have posted on this website, we had so many who just wanted to be anonymous and in their words, “do a little something”.  To everyone who felt the tug at their heart and did a good neighbor deed – thank you.

    GOOD NEIGHBOR BASH

Here we go again with another big community night – this time western style.  Guests arrived as outlaws, cowboys and even Miss Kitty, to join us for “A Night at the Frontier Saloon”. What fun! The big bash held at Villa de Bruno featured an unbelievable buffet of steak, chicken, ribs, chili, corn bread, beans and all the side vittles you could ever want. Entertainment included can-can dancers, bean spittin’, horse races and lasso contests.  Add to that the exciting parade results, special awards and a whole lot of line dancing going on. Thanks to our committee and sponsors: Schroeder Lauer, Great Lakes Bank, 1st National Bank, Providence Bank, Ultra Foods, Popolano’s, Minuteman Press and the Donna Brum Dancers. EEEHAAA!!!

    BEST NEIGHBOR CONTEST

The Lansing Chamber of Commerce recently    held our “Best Neighbor Contest” asking for people to write a brief story about someone who has been a good neighbor.  So many nominations were received that it was a great testament that Lansing is a Good Neighbor Village.  The Best Neighbor Committee carefully read all of the nominations and selected Dorothy Przekwas and Randy Krolak as the “2008 Lansing’s Best Neighbors”.   Each of them was very surprised to be chosen. A Certificate, Best Neighbor Sash and the honor of being the Grand Marshals of the Chamber’s Good Neighbor Parade were bestowed upon them.  Ultra Foods sponsored a beautiful horse and carriage for them to ride in as they led the May 3rd parade.  According to Joyce Tiltges, the Executive Director of the Chamber, there was such an overwhelming response to this project that the Chamber of Commerce will continue it again next year.  “We have so many great neighbors here in Lansing that we want to let more people have this opportunity”.
